Bogged Down at the Baker Woods Preserve
Humble thanks to the 20 dedicated Baker Woods Preserve volunteers who labored in late April to, among other chores, transport hefty planks for installation on the Hemlock Hill Trail. Scott, Rick, Dublin and I got down and dirty (and cold and wet) this weekend to complete over 400 feet of beautiful plank bridging across the verdant cedar swamp at the start of Hemlock Hill trail. Beaversprite Loop, a personal favorite, can now be accessed sans wet feet. Approximately 200 feet of additional blank bridges will be installed next weekend making the entire trail system relatively dry while also helping to protect the fragile swamp ecosystem.
