Summer arrives in BWP
Getting the Baker Woods Preserve trails and environs ready for the summer hiking season is a never-ending labor of love. Blow-downs were especially prevalent this year as March winds extended well into April and May. Friends of Baker Woods (FBW), the Nesbitts and Carneys, hiked the trails with chainsaws and handsaws on multiple occasions to clear downed trees and limbs. When spring sun finally graced our woods and trails we were able to make several nice improvements aided by a small BWP work day on May 12. Work is ongoing here in the Baker Woods with the hope of adding well over 200 acres of riverfront woodland and wetland in the near future. Please contact us if you'd like to get involved.
