Steward’s Dilemma: Winter is Fickle
Believe it or not we’ve had a reasonably good snow season here in the Baker Woods. Regulars have enjoyed as many as 30 days of skiing on our BWP trails with conditions ranging from meh to marvelous. Many of these good ski and snowshoe days were prior to the actual start of winter and things have taken a turn for the worse since the start of the 2020. It appears that mother nature and / or man, in the form of climate change, is messing with our snow-loving souls.
As I write, however, winter appears to be on the cusp of a robust recovery with snow and cold in the forecast. I’d be willing to wager that skiing and snowshoeing will be good by this weekend (Jan 18-19). When you visit, be sure to check out two of our recent trail additions. Oso Negro and Tata’s Turnoff were both added to increase novice to intermediate terrain for skiing at our preserve. They will be added to the official map(s) along with Maebh’s Meander and Scraggy Spruce in the near future.
Happy 2020. Happy skiing.
