Stewardship Means Staying Close to Home
One of the key aspects of stewardship of the Baker Woods Preserve (BWP) is our proximity to the trails. We walk them almost daily with the Oso Negro trail circling about 50 yards from our doorstep. Late afternoon mountain bike rides on Norm’s Path, Woodcutter, and Tata’s Turnoff help us to regularly ensure that all is well in the woods. A trail run (or spirited walk) of the entire BWP N system can help us to quickly identify and remediate any issues such as downed trees or needed repairs.
It is our honor and our pleasure to help make the BWP trails safe and accessible. We are thrilled that they remain open during a time when exercise and outdoor pursuits in abundant space like a nature preserve are, perhaps, more important and appreciated than ever. Please continue to enjoy our BWP trails and other IRLC hiking trails while also practicing all recommended safety measures including social distancing.
Hike safely... and keep smiling. This, too, shall pass.
