Stewardship Means Keeping Visitors Informed
We took our final 2020 canoe trip to BWP S in early November to clear away blowdown resulting from late autumn wind events. The river is now iced over. Due to unpredictable currents, it is never safe to cross in winter. Please note that BWP S is closed until mid-April as access is only safely achieved via open water by canoe or kayak. If you have not already done so, please check out this newly-marked five-mile trail system after ice-out. We think you’ll be pleased!
The four miles of trails in BWP N are open as usual and today will be our 40th day of X-C skiing on Norm’s Path, Woodcutter, Tata’s Turnoff and Oso Negro. These provide a great novice ski or snowshoe! Hemlock Hill is a more challenging but rewarding snowshoe outing and a more technical X-C ski adventure requiring appropriate equipment (backcountry skis with metal edges), experience level and snow conditions. The photos below are from Martin Luther King Jr weekend. Current ski conditions are near perfect! Find maps here.
As always, think snow!
